Product Features:

  • Color: Epidote is commonly pistachio green to yellow-green, although it can also be brownish-green, black, or practically colorless. The intensity of its green hue varies greatly.
  • Epidote crystallizes in the monoclinic system and frequently forms prismatic or tabular crystals. These crystals have pronounced striations on their faces and can be well-formed. It can also take the form of large or granular aggregates.
  • When polished, epidote has a vitreous to resinous sheen, giving it a fairly dazzling look.
  • Transparency: Depending on the quality and thickness of the specimen, it is normally transparent to almost opaque.
  • Hardness: Epidote has a Mohs hardness of 6 to 7, making it moderately durable and ideal for use in jewelry and lapidary work.
  • Cleavage and Fracture: Epidote has no cleavage but a conchoidal fracture, which means it fractures with curved, shell-like surfaces.
  • The density of epidote varies based on its composition and can range between 3.3 and 3.5 grams per cubic centimeter.
  • Epidotes may be found in metamorphic rocks such as schist, gneiss, and amphibolite. It is frequently formed because of mineral alteration, such as feldspar, pyroxene, and hornblende. It is also found in igneous rocks such as granite and diorite. Austria, France, Norway, Pakistan, and the United States all have significant deposits.
  • Because of its poor transparency and sensitivity to brittleness, epidote is not widely utilized as a gemstone. It is, however, occasionally used in jewelry, as cabochons or beads, and may be an appealing collector’s mineral due to its distinctive crystal shapes and green hue.

Important note:

The weight and size of the gemstone may slightly differ due to variations in measurement scales. The color may not be the same as in real life because of differences in computer monitor resolution and lighting. The buyer is solely responsible for any import customs duties and taxes in their country. We have no control over these duties, taxes, and so on.
